The Raku Process
Raku is originally a Japanese style of firing and has been adapted in many ways once introduced to the West.
This piece is fired to 800 degrees and removed from the kiln whilst still glowing hot, horsehair is then burnt onto the piece to create unique surface decoration.
Care Instructions:
As this is a low-fired ceramic piece it is porous and can be marked by greasy fingers, care should be taken when handling this art.
These pieces have been coated with an ornamental sealer to help protect and seal the clay body. To clean, wash in water, do not use chemicals on this piece of art.
NB- Raku Art is not recommended for outdoors or being placed in direct sunlight as this will change and/or diminish the colours on the surface. It is not food safe or water proof.
